Dear Friend,
Thank you for visiting my campaign website. I am running for State Representative in the newly drawn House District 136 and I ask for your support. Although I have been considering this seat for a long time, it was not until Representative Beverly Woolley announced her retirement that I decided to run for this important office.
I seek this position for simple and practical reasons. We need sound-minded conservatives who care about the future of this State, who will be good stewards of your tax dollars, and who are willing to bring their judgment and skills to government. I believe state government should focus on doing a few things well, such as educating our children and creating a healthy environment for businesses to create jobs. I am a pro-life, social and fiscal conservative who is intimately familiar with this district and I want to serve this remarkable area that we call home. To coin a phrase, “I have skin in the game” and I will be responsive to our needs and be an advocate for us.
Having lived nearly all of my life in west Houston, I am a product of our area. After the Castro regime took control of Cuba and a failed Bay of Pigs invasion, my parents came to this country to escape communism and ultimately settled in west Houston. My four brothers and I attended Spring Branch ISD schools and then The University of Texas. After SMU law school, Melissa and I returned home to begin my law practice and raise our family. We live about a mile from where we grew up and our three boys attend the same public schools that I attended. I am a partner in a law firm and have worked in the private sector counseling and advocating for businesses and individuals for the past 20 years. I have been a passionate youth coach for more than 10 years. I have been involved with Spring Branch Memorial Sports Association since chalking football fields in 1979 and I currently serve as a Board member. We are members of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church.
This campaign will be won at the grassroots level. It requires early support from friends like you. Many have already expressed their commitment to my campaign and I hope to include you in our effort. I ask that you endorse my candidacy and be an active part of our campaign.
